Denham Springs Builder is Remodeler of the Year

Tom Ashley of Expand, Inc. was named as the 2008 Capital Region Builders’ Association Remodeler of the Year for his dedication to every CRBA program, not only for remodelers but also for the entire building industry. Tom joined CRBA nine years ago and quickly got involved on the Remodelers Council Board of Directors and then was elected to serve as their chairman.

Tom knew that education would improve his business and himself as a businessman, and he pursued classes all over the country. He now holds Certified Graduate Remodeler, Certified Aging in Place Specialists, and Certified Green Professional designations through the National Association of Home Builders. He has been supportive of the new educational programs that CRBA is offering and stands behind the enhanced program to be offered in 2009.

Ashley has been active on the state level and could often be seen lobbying for or against bills affecting our industry. He has served on the Governmental Affairs Committee, Education Committee, Green Building Committee, Codes Committee and he is a PAC trustee. He is a member of the Louisiana Home Builders Association Board of Directors and also serves on the National Home Builders Association Board.

While attending the NAHB Board meetings, he has become involved in the meetings for remodelers and is fast becoming well known in the national arena of remodelers. He was the driving force in getting the community service project that earned the local council two national awards this year. One project was "Helping the Good Samaritan", a home makeover for a local individual who was crippled when he stopped to help change a lady's tire on I-10. Tom will also serve as President of CRBA in 2009.

CRBA produces the Habitat Home & Garden Show, the largest industry trade show in Baton Rouge, the Parade of Homes and builds the Children's Miracle Mansion. For more information about the association, visit www.capitalregionba.com or call 225-769-7696.
